Abstract :
The electric arc furnace is the most common device used by the modern steel industry to produce heat. Even if electric furnaces are not the perfect solution to industrial problems of economic, ecological, technological and energetic nature, when compared to other industrial systems for heat production, the electric arc furnace represents the best compromise between good profits and technological flexibility.
