Abstract
Summary form only given. The organic ionic salt crystal DAST is an extremely promising material with high nonlinear optical coefficient of 840 pm/V at 1542 nm and electro-optical (EO) coefficient of 75 pm/V at 820 nm. DAST has been used to generate broadband THz radiation by optical rectification. in addition, low dielectric constants of DAST allows high-speed EO modulation and detection. DAST has been used to monitor mm wave field by interferometric methods. In this paper, we first report the dielectric constant of DAST at THz frequency. Then we employ DAST as an EO sensor to detect THz pulses using a novel scheme, with both waveform and spectrum information obtained.
