Abstract :
The low detectable ability requires the submarine not emit sound signals that would expose itself. It means that submarine can only get target bearing series from its contacts by using sonar passively. As a result, Bearing only target motion analysis (TMA) is almost the only way to get target´s motion parameters. But bearing-only TMA is a difficult process that might take relatively long time. An improved Particle Swarm Optimization (IPSO) method was proposed to deal with this problem. Firstly, initial particles were generated among a limited possible scope of the target motion parameters. Secondly, the state updating formula were modified to meet the requirement of the bearing-only TMA problem. Finally, the terminating condition was changed to meet the time-varying system of this paper. Simulation results showed that the improved PSO works better than traditional methods as Kalman Filter and Least Square Filter.
