Abstract :
This paper proposes a SONET (Synchronous Optical NETwork) OC-3 limiting amplifier using a single 5 V power supply double-poly-double-metal 1.0 μm BiCMOS technology. This amplifier allows an input dynamic range of 40 dB (4m Vp-p-400 m Vp-p) and provides a constant output of 2 Vp-p, which is suitable for SONET OC-3 long-haul application (~40 km). The active area of this limiting amplifier is 0.8 mm×3.0 mm and power consumption is 130 mW
