Abstract :
This paper reports the results of studies on energy production by using organic solid slaughterhouse wastes. The use of this kind of biomass is a good chance to reduce CO2 emissions as well as an interesting support to the use local resources and to the development of local economies. The paper investigates the main characteristics of wastes and biomethanation results, as well the performances of typical plants used for producing biogas with anaerobic digestion and clean electrical power. Anaerobic digestion seems to be the most suitable option for the treatment of high strength organic matter.
