Abstract :
Much literature has addressed the accurate modelling of technical constraints of a Generation Company´s (GenCo´s) thermal portfolio. This paper approaches the scheduling problem from the perspective of flexible dispatch. The contribution lies in relaxing the fixed gradient and minimum up- and down-time constraints of a thermal power plant. Two test cases show both price takers and price makers exploit this thermal flexibility in order to attain higher profits.
