Abstract :
A multialphabet arithmetic coding with weighted history model is presented for variable length coding of the video symbols in video compression applications. The weighted history model uses less buffer storage and provides a better performance than the limited past history model introduced by Ghanbari (see Electr. Letters, vol.27, no.13, p.1157, 1991)
