Abstract :
An experimental study is in process aimed at enhancing the signal line spread function (LSF) of a novel imaging sensor which utilizes gas and semiconductor detector volumes. Preliminary results indicate the presence of general space charge nonlinearities which are partially reduced by adding a small amount of methane. A significant improvement of the signal LSF is expected by adding traces of polar molecules with low ionization potential. The final goal of this study is to develop a high resolution imaging sensor for dual-energy medical imaging
