  • Abstract
Summary form only given. We describe transmission performance of two 10-Gbit/s 1550-nm repeatered channels over two spans of 120-km of dispersion-shifted fiber (DSF) using a novel in-line bi-directional erbium amplifier repeater (BEAR). Use of a novel high-performance circulator-fiber grating-based amplifier design enabled this sucessful amplified bi-directional system configuration.
