Abstract :
Monitoring the loss of distribution transformer is very significant for the energy conservation and economic operation of transformer. Off-line approach is the main way used in loss detection in China. In this paper, an on-line detecting method for transformer loss is proposed. The equivalent circuit of transformer is created. Based on the structure and working principle of transformer, the formulas for calculating the open circuit loss and the short-circuit loss are deduced. The essential parameters for loss calculation are the voltage and current of the primary and secondary windings. Therefore, the electrical parameters of the primary and secondary windings need to be measured at first. Simulation is carried out. The results are compared with the loss detected in off-line way, which shows that the proposed method is feasible. The constructed on-line detecting system is also presented.
