Abstract :
In this paper, a novel fuzzy-based edge detection algorithm for images is presented. The algorithm is developed by modifying the classical Pal and King algorithm with a new fuzzy membership function. This membership function can be automatically defined from the threshold of the image, which guarantees the algorithm is adaptive. Some comparisons with existing fuzzy and conventional edge detection algorithms are given in the paper. Experimental results show the proposed algorithm is effective.
