Abstract :
The conventional gravity corers often fail to get enough length of core samples from the sandy bottom. To obtain the sandy core samples efficiently, we developed the new type of vibration corer "VIBRO-CORER". It is composed of the core barrel with specially designed piston, vibrator driven with battery powered motor, supersonic controller, and their framework. It has a remote controlling system for a series of moves such as start and stop of penetrating and drawing of the core barrel. And also we can detach the vibrocorer from the survey vessel during operation, eliminating the effect of survey vessel\´s drift on the vibrocorer. This vibrocorer is applicable up to 200 m in each sea depth and able to collect the core samples of 2.5- 3.0 m in length depending on the bottom materials.
