Abstract
A brief introduction of problems in the restoration of metallic archeological finds is done. It is also presented the improving of the classical “uniform” electrochemical restoration procedure by the exploration of find´s surface by a focused ionic beam. Issues in determination of current density of focalized ionic beam, in present experimental condition, forced by chemical constraints are faced, considering a trivial model of electrical characteristic of crust. The experimental apparatus is briefly described. Results of a first completed reduction of a real archeological lead coin are shown that allow considerations on a further improvement of the methodology are presented, specially in eliminate current density warping by edge effect
