  • Abstract
    A novel compact coplanar waveguide fed UWB antenna for short range applications is presented in this paper. The antenna consists of outer semi circular ring, middle semi elliptical ring and inner semi ellipse. The center position of the middle semi ellipse is shifted to form tapering in structure to achieve wide impedance bandwidth. In addition the proposed CPW fed antenna has a small size of 31×15.5 mm2, which makes it an excellent candidate for UWB systems and portable applications. The experimental results shows that the proposed antenna can achieve a return loss 10dB over an ultra wide band. Detailed design and experiments are shown and discussed in this paper.
