Abstract :
Summary form only given. The UV processing of germanosilicate fibers and preforms is connected with bleaching of blue 400-nm luminescence and increase of red luminescence with maximum at 650 nm. The induced red band, which was ascribed to drawing-induced defect (DID center), was found to correlate with index change.
