            Abstract :
There is a growing interest in intelligent tools in the area of fault detection and diagnosis in electrical and electronic systems. This paper reports the progress made in the development of a methodology for the diagnosis of electrical machines, with some encouraging initial results. An induction motor was chosen as an application of the knowledge based approach to fault diagnosis
