Abstract :
The author proposes a computation reduction method of the decision feedback equalizer (DFE) to simplify the receiver for high-bit-rate transmission in land mobile radio communications. In the proposed method, the initial acquisition process is carried out at both the preamble and the postamble of each burst. With these processes, the optimum tap gain vectors hpra and hpoa are obtained at the end of the preamble and postamble using conventional RLS algorithms. The optimum tap gain at the kth data symbol h(k) is estimated by linearly interpolating hpra and hpoa. Computer simulation confirms that the transmission performance of the proposed method is almost equal to that of the conventional DFE with 1/7 the computation
