Abstract
In this paper, the authors describe a design methodology for magnetic bearing systems which has been successfully applied to the design of magnetic bearings for a variety of applications. The design of magnetic bearings for a 50 Wh open core flywheel is used to illustrate the concepts developed as part of the methodology
