Abstract :
A compact multiband antenna, working in the DVB-T band (470 - 862 MHz) and 3.5WiMAX band (3300 - 3800 MHz) is presented. The antenna occupies a volume equal to 225×30×20 mm3 (LxWxH) and it has been designed to get robust with respect of the presence of many near metal parts. A side view of the antenna is hook-shaped, hence the name H-PIFA (H-shaped Planar Inverted-F Antenna). The linearly polarized antenna shows good performance: reflection coefficient <;-6dB and <;-10dB, gain between 2.72 and 3.6 dBi over a 59% impedance bandwidth and about 4 dBi in the DVB-T and 3.5WiMAx band, respectively. A prototype has been realized with a 0.4 mm thick aluminum foil, cut and folded properly. Results are shown in terms of reflection coefficient, radiation patterns and gain.
