Abstract :
This paper presents two configurations of rectangular microstrip patch antenna loaded with two element SRR array without and with the array of metallic via holes respectively. In both configurations, the antenna resonates at the same frequency bands. But when split ring resonator (SRR) array with metallic via hole loading is used the bandwidth is enhanced by the factors of 0.79 and 8.20 at respective resonant frequency. Thus, the SRR array with metallic via holes loading is a useful approach to enhance the bandwidth and gain. At lower resonant frequency 8.70 GHz the size of antenna is 0.324 λ × 0.215λ.
