Abstract
This work presented the application of wire medium ε-near zero metamaterial as a superstrate in microstrip patch radiators. Superstrate is designed as wired array, which is having effective index of refraction smaller than unity. This proposed superstrate has been mounted on the circular Microstrip patch antenna operating in C-band frequencies. The effect of superstrate shows in directivity enhancement of 2.69 dB and front to back ratio improvement of 22.57dB over conventional patch radiator. Realistic simulation has been done using commercial EM solver Ansoft HFSS v11 and CST Microwave Studio.
