  • Abstract
    We have successfully developed the MT-RJ connector which is designed to be compact, easy to use and high performing. Optical characteristics measurements have revealed typical connector insertion loss values of less than 0.1 dB and return loss values of higher than 30 dB for 62.5/125 μm multimode GI fiber, while respective values of 0.15 dB and 40 dB have been obtained for the 10/125 μm singlemode fiber. A variety of mechanical and environmental tests based on the Bellcore and IEC standard specifications have also proven the reliability of the connector for field and premises use, with typical insertion loss changes of less than 0.1 dB. We have also developed a field installable version of the connector for fast and easy assembly in the field
