Abstract :
This paper presents a miniaturized directional antenna design for ultra-wideband (UWB) applications. The design is based on a monopole-like slot structure printed on an FR4 printed circuit board (PCB) backed by a cavity in order to achieve directionality. The antenna is with an overall size of 26 mm × 29 mm × 18 mm, achieving the impedance matching bandwidth of 10.5 GHz (2.26-12.76 GHz) for VSWR ≤ 2. The measured gain is -3.4 dBi to 4.5 dBi over the UWB band ranging from 3.1 to 10.6 GHz.
