Abstract :
NO adsorption over powder activated carbon in a fluidized bed reactor has been studied. NO could be adsorbed by fluidized powder activated carbon. This study showed that lower reaction temperature gave more amount of NO adsorption. When no oxygen was present, the amount of NO adsorption was little. With increasing oxygen content, the amount of NO adsorption increased. Although NO2 was not detected in the reaction time of 8 minutes, NO might be oxidized into NO2 over activated carbon and then NO2 was adsorbed onto activated carbon. Because there was competition adsorption between H2O and NO over activated carbon, H2O inhibited adsorption of NO.
