Abstract :
Given a fuzzy set (X, π) with possibilities pi, and given U(π)=Σ(pi-pi+1)log i, Z(π)=-(1-p 1)log p1, S(π)=-Z(π)+U(π), Ramer and Padet (1995) developed for U(π) a formal semantics linking its interpretation to the transmission of information about acceptability of preferences given their possibilities. This paper provides such a semantics for S(π), thus offering a theoretical explanation for the experimental success of its use in control engineering
