Abstract
As engineers begin to embed complex system functions within programmable logic, the need often arises to perform arithmetic functions. Altera´s FLEX 8000 family addresses this need with the features of the Arithmetic LE Mode. In this mode, dedicated logic and routing generates and propagates a fast carry-forward function in less than 1 ns. This high speed carry generation can be used to build arithmetic functions that will meet the most demanding system requirements
