Abstract :
An analysis is made of the effect of applying a non-regenerative radio transmission system to base station links in personal communications. A discussion is presented of the models and the cost function of networks. These costs are estimated by finding the parameters which minimize the total cost. The results are as follows: (1) For transmission, the SCM/concentrating method is more advantageous than multiplexing/distributing method in both the simple star and hierarchical star type networks. (2) If the number of base station links is large (large service area or small base zone), a hierarchical star type network is most advantageous
