Abstract
This paper employs the steepest decent method (SDM) to synthesize the phases of an array of antennas to radiate an optimum field pattern in the near-zone of antenna aperture. The synthesized phases are implemented to design a microstrip antenna array, which is operated at 24 GHz band and can be used for the vital-sign detection with a higher resolution.
