Abstract :
This paper analyzes the transition characteristic of the doubly-fed induction generator (DFIG) during the grid fault, and the approximate short current calculation which is based on the fifth-order DFIG model is also introduced to support the analysis. A novel method which is easier and more accurate than the past ones is proposed to verify the low voltage ride through (LVRT) characteristic of the DFIG, and the control strategy of LVRT is briefly introduced to protect the converter and the generator during the fault. Comparing to the past methods, the novel method using the suddenly rising the stator voltage is effective from the simulation results, and the novel method can also be used to the cut-in control of DFIG. The experimental test is in the progress, and the results will be presented in the future.
