Abstract
Based on the results of the BERKOM Broadband-ISDN pilot project the Research Institute for Open Communication Systems (FOKUS) has started in the beginning of 1993 with the procurement and installation of inhouse ATM equipment. Since then the ATM-Lab has been continously growing and presently comprises ATM switches of four different vendors (Fore Systems, Synoptics, Siemens, Cisco). In addition the number of ATM endsystems has grown to about 20 Sun workstations and a number of interworking units between Ethernet, FDDI and ATM have been installed and successfully tested. The paper concentrates on performance issues like cell delay and cell delay variation as well as with performance of AAL5 and TCP/IP via inhouse ATM networks
