Abstract :
A tuning technique for 10 GHz spaced, 128-channel frequency-selection switches is described. It utilizes optical frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) information distribution systems with a frequency-shift-keying-direct-detection (FSK-DD) configuration. The frequencies of seven Mach-Zehnder (MZ) filters can be locked to the center frequency of the desired FSK signal by making use of FSK-ASK conversion effects of the transmittance characteristics of the MZ filters. The frequency offset and fluctuation of the MZ filters can be compressed to within 2% of their frequency spacing. This percentage is low enough to construct OFDM information distribution systems
