Title :
Thermal Transient Response of Electrical Self-Heating in Current-in-Plane Magnetoresistive Heads

Abstract :
This paper investigates a dynamic resistance thermometry technique to study temperature rise in magnetoresistive heads. Electrical bias transients give rise to thermal transients in the sensor of a GMR head which increase with the (product of the) bias current and the transient current. Today´s head sensors are so small that they thermally respond to transients in the electrical bias nearly instantaneously.
