  • Abstract
    A frequency modulated laser radar being developed for in-vessel metrology viewing of plasma-facing surfaces, optical components of this sensor must withstand intense gamma radiation (3×106 rad/h) during operation. We have tested the effect of radiation on a silica core polarization maintaining optical fiber and on TeO2 crystals at doses up to -109 rad. Additional tests are planned for evaluating the performance of a complete acousto-optic (AO) scanning device. The progress made in these tests is also described
