Abstract
This paper provides an insightful graphical visualization of the reflectarray performance. Variable patch size approach is used for the element design. The phase response of the reflectarray elements is studied in the actual reflectarray environment. It is shown that this visualization can be used to validate if the designed reflectarray elements provide the pres-designed phase shifts. In order to better appreciate the performance of the reflectarray, its performance is compared to a ground plane. The ground plane scatters a spherical wavefront and the reflectarray scatters a planar wavefront and this is confirmed through the incident, scattered and total fields analyses.
