            Abstract :
The authors propose and examine the distribution composition of an XC-MUX (crossconnect multiplexer) with the aim of applying it to an optical transfer network. A numerical analysis confirms that the proposed composition is able to efficiently cope with demand changes on small-scale circuits. A distributed cooperative algorithm, including a self-healing algorithm, is proposed, which can also be applied to distributed XC-MUXs. The algorithm can efficiently use spare paths even in the case of nonideal topologies and multiple failures
