Abstract
An analytical method is used to derive explicit solutions for the forces between two well-defined magnetic fields. The method is applied to predict the forces between cylindrical and cuboidal magnets. These results are used to explore scaling laws and geometrical considerations for microscale magnets which can be used to optimize the magnetic forces for various magnetic sensors and actuators.
