Abstract :
Two algorithms for fast adaptive channel allocation are proposed. Both algorithms are based on a logic structure called the index vector. The first algorithm uses the main index vector only. The second algorithm uses a hierarchically organized index vector, which consists of the main and an auxiliary index vector. The main advantage of the algorithms is a very fast determination of an available channel when there is a request for a call initialization or a hand-off. Also, they permit almost immediate call rejection if the call cannot be supported for any reason
