Abstract :
The author discusses objectives for basic end-to-end voice transmission parameters in digital tetherless communication systems, including the voice terminal. To optimize the performance of the voice services delivered through the public network access architecture it is necessary to develop a transmission plan which is compatible with the existing public switched telephone network transmission plan; is consistent with the evolving digital network loss plans; and takes into account the increase in delay and impact of echo in the tetherless systems. The author addresses the engineering of a transmission plan for digital tetherless communications systems which meets these objectives
