Abstract :
Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) has become a core technology for the new generation of wireless communication since it can increase capacity and therefore bit rates without the need for additional spectrum or transmit power. As a key component in MIMO systems, an effective multiple antennas design in base station is important. In this paper, a development of multiple-port beam-switchable base station antennas for Wi-Fi services is presented. The proposed multiple antennas are sectorized to form antenna sets and each antenna set is able to cover 120 degrees in its azimuth plane. The radiation pattern beams are steerable such that the efficiency of data delivery can be enhanced. Both simulation and experimental results are presented.
