This paper demonstrates the utilization of the causal block diagram (CBD) and design structure matrix (DSM) to develop the knowledge based database (KBDB) for new product development (NPD) process. This KBDB is successfully validated in the Australian manufacturing industry which would assist organizations and stakeholders to gain a competitive edge
