Abstract
It is well known that higher coercivity media is required to achieve higher density in magnetic recording. Such high coercivity may cause a write-ability problem when the writer cannot generate sufficient field to saturate the media. Overwrite is a standard test method to measure the write-ability. In this work, we have investigated the frequency and write current overshoot influences on overwrite processes with a high coercivity medium in perpendicular recording.
