Abstract :
Interference and energy-restriction are two of the most important technical challenges in the design of networking protocols in wireless ad hoc networks. The interference is an inherent problem for wireless communication and it is not easy to control. On the other hand, the lifetime of an ad hoc network totally relies on the power consumption of the network nodes, each of which is normally equipped with a limited power supply such as batteries. In this paper, we develop algorithms for interference-aware minimum energy path (MEP) routing in wireless ad hoc networks. The empirical results show that the interference-aware MEP tends to avoid congested core in the network and leads to better load balance and overall power savings, compared with its noninterference-aware counterparts.
