Abstract :
The author discusses standards governing situations where a computer is used in a safety system design. Specifically IEEE Std 7-4.3.2-1933, section 5.5.1, which states that “computer systems shall be designed to perform their safety functions when subjected to all conditions, external or internal, which have significant potential for defeating the safety function”
