  • Abstract
The effects of FEC (forward error correcting) channel coding on the performance of a diversity combining BPSK (binary phase shift keying) DS/CDMA (direct sequence/code division multiple access) mobile radio system are investigated. (7,4) Hamming, (15,7) BCH and convolutional coding are considered. Bit error rates are evaluated for comparison of performance. The radio link is modeled as an additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel with Rayleigh fading and log-normal shadowing, and is also corrupted by both self and mutual interferences assumed Gaussian. MRC (maximal ratio combining) microscopic and selection macroscopic diversity are used to reduce the effects of Rayleigh fading and log-normal shadowing, respectively
