Abstract
This paper presents a novel design of narrow bandpass filter based on a new filter synthesis technique which allows for the realization of lossy filters with ideal lossless transmission and reflection response, offset by a constant amount. An experimental three-pole Chebyshev filter having 6 dB insertion loss and return loss better than 26 dB in the passband is demonstrated. This new class of filter would be useful in microwave systems where the increased insertion loss can be tolerated, such as in a satellite IMUX.
