Abstract :
Incorporation of a commercially available single pole four throw (SP4T) switch for beam steerable square loop antenna over hybrid HIS is presented. Using this switch with appropriate selection of its 1:4 output port a tilted beam of the antenna can be electronically steered in all the four space quadrants. An accurate model of the complete integrated switch with the antenna is developed and is simulated. For the test frequency band of 4.3 GHz to 5.0 GHz, the antenna generates a steerable tilted beam of (θmax) = 36° ± 3°. For this frequency band, the directivity of antenna stays at 8.0 dBi ° 0.4 dB.
