Abstract :
Acquiring high frequency oceanographic data on waveheight, current structure and suspended concentration over a long (one to four month) deployment presents special problems not readily addressed with \´off the shelf" systems. A system, developed over the past three years, to digitize, telemeter and record nearshore data from pressure sensors, electromagnetic flow meters and transmissometers is described along with techniques used to deploy and recover it. Some references to field experiments where the system has been used are included along with a discussion of its limitations and possibilities for future development.
