  • Abstract
    This paper presents a new model of a forest surface which is based on the fractal method and a two-scale fractal concept. The model is designed for studying the electromagnetic wave scattering of communications signals from a forest. Based on the considerations of forest surface features, the model consists of two parts: a fractional Brownian motion (FBM) and a bandlimited Weierstrass function (BWF). Theoretical analysis and computer generated samples of the model are introduced, and surface parameters related to scattering are calculated. Finally, we discuss the potential applications and extensions to the new model
