Abstract :
Several technologies are suitable to implement ultra-wideband (UWB) sensors; one of the most popular is the impedance loading from Wu-King´s theory. Research has been reported with experimental and simulated results obtained from prototypes built following this theory, but few contributions have been reported about the design process employed and the set of adaptations that must be considered to implement a physical prototype. This paper introduces a step-by-step UWB resistively loaded antenna design process, relevant design rules and assumed approximations are shown. The effect in the resulting sensor´s performance for each parameter is reported and main properties are listed and discussed.
