Abstract :
To satisfy the manufacturing of pistons with complex profile and high accuracy demand, the shaping approach of non-cylinder piston surface with CNC turning is studied in this paper. Piston surface is divided into three characteristics of middle-convex, ellipse, and varying ellipse. And three corresponding processing algorithms are proposed. By using the algorithms, lots of micro elliptic cylinders are generated, and the piston surface is approached by organizing them together. Furthermore, the surface errors produced by the algorithms are analyzed, and error formulas are also deduced. Based on these, we develop the data processing software for piston surface, providing control data of the cutter for piston machining.
